Check your sub volume setting(it normally has it own volume control) also check your EQ settings

What's the rms output of your subwoofer and satellites? Maybe they're just not powerful enough. EQ setting in winamp don't help?

You need a soundcard that can sent out 2.1 surround. That way you will have a seperate volume control for the sub and you can choose how much to send out.

If you dont have medium to high end speakers then its going to be difficult as ur going to be sending the bass to the left and right speakers degrading quality and max volume

Maybe you can also look into using DFX for Winamp.
