    Note:

According to NAD, Apple said in a statement that its ad campaign has already run its course
    and...

A Dell representative said in an e-mail: We "notified NAD because we felt there were some inaccuracies in Apple's advertisement and wanted to act on behalf of consumers in the marketplace who deserve accurate information on which to base their purchase decisions...Essentially, we felt that clarity in the marketplace benefits consumers, and NAD agreed."

It's funny.. but why would you report something AFTER the ad has already been withdrawn ??? Could it be that your sales were affected?

DELL is an intel only shop. They claim they are determined only to provide systems with Intel CPU's only. Whilst IBM,SONY, Toshib, and HP/Compaq provide a mix of BOTH CPU's

Dell claim this makes the customer have less to worry about (ie choice) and Dell also has less to worry about.

It is interesting to note that while other companies have gotten better profit from mixing their CPU's, Dell has gotten better profits as well... indicating that DELL has a significant sweet heart deal with INTEL.

The mistake of putting up the opteron AD, resulted in deluge of calls to their marketing department requesting products that don't exist. What happend was that the AD was meant for special customers who are using the DELLWARE service.

DELLWARE is a rebrander and reseller of special items to special customers including opterons.

    Dell regrets the mistake.

BTW Intel is also pissed that their 64BIT offerings are only half hearted and seem weak in comparrison to the opterons which are now going into its second or theird generation, while Intel is yet to give birth to a fully functional unit for mass market appeal. They also (intel) bought several Opterons and Opteron systems to "study" them. MS did the same with MacOS X, where they bought several OS X based MAC's to "study them", the MS employee that made this public knowledge was summarilly fired.

IBM G5's and AMD Opterons are the only main stream 64Bit CPU's availble and Intel is quite embarrased by this. Please note however that the aforementioned CPU's are NOT the only 64 bit cpus used in computing... see my post on SPARC computers.
