    Default XP's No-Reformat, Nondestructive Total-Rebuild Option

    Found this Quite Interesting.

Fred Langa shows you how to completely rebuild, repair, or refresh an existing XP installation without losing data and without having to reinstall user software or reformat or otherwise destructively alter the setup.

I have known how to do that for some time now and in many situations, it is a life saver but as I have learned from experience, it will not bring back a Damages Installation of XP 100% of the time.
Especially if it is a hardware problem or some some messed up software.

I take it that this will not work with laptops without floppy drives.

I have a legetimate copy of XP home installed on my laptop. I want to install a (questionable) copy of Windows Media Center. Does anyone know if I can use this to "restore" a copy of Media Center on my machine?

I thought everyone knew this by now... I've been doing it successfully for a while now... Choose the second repair option and everything comes back fine... programs registry is all good etc etc etc.... I never use the first repair option... its never worked for me and also the users I support seem to screw things up so badly recovery console doesnt help either

I have made around two or three previous mposts on the steps of carrying out this procedure. It is a life saver, but it sucks when you had done windows update after you installed windows xp.

The most serious issue i had is that i had to re-register the .dll files for the windows WMI. Otherwise, second repair is a life saver.
