    Default ATI is DEAD

August 7, 2006 - AMD announced today that ATI's days are numbered. All future products developed by ATI will now ship under the AMD brand name, effectively ending 21 years of ATI brand-history.

AMD is reportedly anxious to assert that its ATI acquisition is a full take-over rather than a merger or partnership. What impact the decision will have upon deepening the AMD-AMD (ATI) vs. Intel-Nvidia divide remains to be seen.

    Unhappy

Looks t ome like AMD is preparing to run the company in the ground! Well its the end of the world, i'm heading back to Nvidia I guess. I wonder if they'll have a clearance sale ? A nice big fat ATI X1900XTX= US$99 .
I guess Nvidia will automatically become the new Monopoly in the graphics card industry

I strongly doubt that AMD would remove the ATI name entirely from the market reason being that ATI is a household name where techies are concerned its a name that employs strong marketing and customer base and AMD would be nuts to try and go without that name
