LOL, Interesting Godkid, I agree. But what i meant was that they had a problem with the movie because it brought up the Jew issue again. They were not denying it or anything, I guss they just fear what dumb people like u described might do after watching the movie.

We have no doubt been desensitized by the things we hear on the radio and see on tv on a daily basis. You disagree look at the 'R' rated movie of yesteryear and compare against what gets an 'R' rating today. It's like night and day, the movies kids watch on cable... The effects are amazing... and the more gruesome, more gory the experience, the better the response... the bigger the box office. 'Unrealistic depictions of violence are no longer acceptable to our mainstream audience...' Realism is the order of the day not just in reality shows but in war and brutality.

I wondered as the controversy surrounding the film escalated... Can portrayal of the Passion really be 'excessively violent'? How could you show what Christians regard as the ultimate sacrifice without illustrating what will undoubtedly make more than a few people cringe? How will Christians embrace the horrors which will reportedly be depicted?

'graphic', 'grotesque', 'gratuitous', 'near-pornographic' these have been ways in which I have seen the violence in the movie described.

The truth is that this film will be shocking... and I hope people get more than they bargained for. Many will go to view the film because of the controversy, others will go to satisfy their appetite for blood, I trust that this blood will be different and serves to open eyes and hearts and in the course change lifes.

Three Takes on 'The Passion of the Christ' Can a Jesus film be too bloody? Can a work of history make room for legend? Can any telling of this story avoid anti-Semitism?

Movie-goer dies of apparent heart attack watching ''Passion'' film (Feb 26 - 8:14 am)

Wichita, Kansas (dpa) - A 57-year-old woman died Wednesday after collapsing at a movie theatre during a screening of Mel Gibson's ''The Passion of the Christ,'' a graphic movie about the last 12 hours of the life of Christ.

Peggy Scott was attending a morning showing of the movie in the Midwestern city of Wichita, Kansas, when she collapsed about 20 minutes before the movie was to end, the Wichita Eagle reported.

The movie was stopped and two physicians who also were watching the movie tried to revive Scott, Ken Crockett, general manager of the theatre, told the newspaper. She was taken to a hospital by ambulance where she was pronounced dead. An autopsy has been ordered to determine the exact cause of death.

Doctors declined to say whether the apparent heart attack was caused by her emotional reaction to the film or whether other factors were involved. Kansas television station KAKE said Scott collapsed at the film's emotional high point.

Critics are calling Gibson's film, filled with the graphic torture and death of Christ, extremely violent and gory. The movie is expected to become the biggest box-office Bible film ever.

Let's not fixate on a movie, however well intended.

Some people are using it as springboard for "go and do" witnessing. While that's all well and good, witnessing is something that "you do, as you go".

Honor the sacrifice of Christ by looking at your heart and loving Him, your brother and sister.

That's only part of the Plan of Salvation.

In saying all this, I'm talking to myself first.

To date the movie has grossed over US $76 Million. My what controversy can do for a movie.

The Movie should premier in the Island Wednesday March 17, 2004.

I saw the movie today .... WOW!! It was easily the most touching and moving movie that I have ever seen. It was very intense and many scenes were graphic. Jesus really went through a lot for us :'(

Well, I am yet to watch it. Hopefully I will get to see it on Tuesday. TVJ (I Believe) did a report on the film the other night and went to the theatres to get some feedback from the patrons. It must be intense, one of the patrons that was interviewed was crying (must have been touched).

About a week or two ago a pastor was visting my church and made a comment that it is said that the violence was too intense. He said that he agreed due to the fact that the amount of beating that Jesus Christ received in his eyes could have killed him 10 times before getting to the cross. However, he said that the film brings the mesage across.

I was told by someone who saw it before me to take tissue. I didn't think that was necessary, but when I went to see it, oh I wished for a handkerchief :'(

The movie is intense, but it's not as intense as what Christ actually went through.

Many persons complain that it's way too intense and unecessarily brutal, but yet they will go see some action or horror movie with even more graphic violence and not complain. Go figure ???

Another interesting observation are the atheists who are criticizing the movie. Yeah right. The movie shouldn't bother them since they don't believe in Christ anyway ???

Thats how the world turns. I am in agrement with you. I dont think that the atheists should criticise the film and they dont believe in it. It shouldnt affect them in anyway.
