    Default A convenient Distro

Guys you need to check this out.

I will attempt to download this dostro some time in the week but if anyone can do so before me, Amen.

I like the idea that you can boot and run Linux form the CD-ROM drive without ever touching your hard drive. Note this: "It is not necessary to install anything on a hard disk. Due to on-the-fly decompression, the CD can have up to 2 GB of executable software installed on it"

This is somewhat convenient since I can literally run a Linux distro on my system at work and the boss sure won’t know ;D. Having two drives such as a CDRW and DVD, or CDROM and DVD is definite plus here. While Linux is running in one drive, the other will be available.

The offerings here are really sweet: Kernel 2.4.x, KDE 3.0, GIMP, OpenOffice and more.

You will need to download it then burn it onto a CD.

    Here is the link: http://knopper.net/knoppix/index-en.html

    Peace
    Kacey.

I once saw a demo of a Linux system like this - one that boots and runs from a CD. The one suggestion that I have is to be sure that your system is on the zippy side, remember that CDs will rum slower than hard drives.

Yes Chis this may be the downside for SOME people. I don’t think the sole problem is ones 40x, 58X and so on. I think Its how fast decryption is meant to take place take place. Even so I love to look beyond. When the fast DVD drives and Burner become available ;D, I am sure drive speed will be no excuse.

So David are you going to attempt to obtain Knoppix? Please I beg you, try and get this piece of software. I am having a bit of problem with my broadband connection for now.
I am sorry I was not able to be at the meeting on Saturday. :-[

    Peace,

Linux users are uninformed, opinionated sesquipedalian octongenerians with contempt for modern-day commerce and global capitalism. A linux user hides behind a facade of technological superiority. An ancient kernel whith severe BIND and OpenSSH flaws that cripple it's own functionality and security.
Purely because of Linux, almost every single DNS server in the world has to be rebooted because of a BIND exploit. What do you think the Linux user has to say about that? I guess probably "Well, it didn't crash.", well, I believe you are misinformed.
