    Default Re:VPN Software

Donavan your question is kina general, what type of VPN software do you need for Windows?

I will do my best to help you anyway.

Windows 9X/ME/2000/XP has a VPN Component. The path to initiating the component may be deferent for each Version of Windows.

I think VPN must also be supported by your ISP for you take advantage of it.

    For 9X/ME

    1. Select Start| Settings|Control Panel.

    2. Double Click Add /remove programs, and select the windows setup tab.

    3. Select the communications component, Check the VPN Checkbox,

    4. Now click ok, I think you may need to restart.

The next step is to be able to make your VPN calls.

    1. Double click my computer

    2. Double Click dialup Networking

    3. Make new connection

A dialog box will appear with two fields:

    1. Type a name for the computer you are dialing:
Type: NU VPN in the dialog field

    2. Select Microsoft VPN adapter form the drop down box

    Now click next.

A second box will appear asking you to type the name or VPN address of the server. Click next. You should fine now.

    For Win2000?XP

    1. Right-Click My Network Places, then select Properties.

    2. Double-click Make New Connection. A dialog box will appear saying welcome the network connection wizard. Click next

    3. Another window will appear for you to select the network connection type. Here you select connect to private network ……………………. Then click next.

    4. Another box will appear with two options, If you do not use a modem to connect to the internet, select the Do not dial the initial connection. Button. If you use a modem to connect to the, select automatically dial this initial connection button, then select the name of the connection that you use to dial in with from the drop-down menu. Then click next.

Another box will appear; here you type the host or IP address you want to connect to.

    Click next.

4 . Another box will appear, select the to all users button

    5. Another will appear, type NU VPN.
    Click Next.

I hope this helps. I will keep looking for a 3rd Party VPN client, application.

    Peace,
    Kacey
