    Default Java Certification

I want to learn Java. This would be my first programming language. My goal is to do the Java certification. can anyone offer any advise on how to proceed.

I have started downloading the J2SE SDK.

Can anyone recommend a good book to buy or any other tools I might need.

    Start here:

Personally, I'd say ... you should start with python.
The www.mindview.net website runs on python even though it promotes other languages such as C++ and Java.

Java is very good if this is your first language. Many institutions also hold this view.

Python, as pigeonflight mentioned is also great. If you are not into a rush and have the time, then get into python then go to java.

Python is a very powerful language..probably more powerful than many of us think..
