    Talking PC building

    Hail all.....

I would really like some help in building a PC...and this is the best place to ask for tips....

    I would like to go:
    AMD processor
    ASUS motheboard
    XFX Vid Card
    Corsair memory
    Seagate HD
    500Watt Power supply
    Lite On DVD Drive

As you should know...i am a noob at PC building...this would be my first PC build.....

Now in the list stated above...is there any problems in manufacturers or parts chosen??

and another question.... If i purchase a 3700+ AMD processor.....would it be recommended to use DDR 466 (PC 3700) Memory????

And also....suppose i was using an AMD 3200+ processor...would DDR 466 (PC 3700) memory make the PC run faster?? or because the Processor is 3200+ it wouldnt be necessary to run such a fast memory as it wouldnt use up all of it???

having alot of memory and speed won't hurt, i'm also thinking about building another pc but i'll have to get my m.b and prosessor sol and also my vid. card. amd systems are best for gamers though.

no...lol what i mean is......the type of memory itself.......not the amount....like the speed of the memory vs the type of processor.

And i'm no fan of overclocking so ur saying if i buy a 3200+ processor and DDR 466 (PC 3700) Memory it wouldn't make sense unless i'm overcocking??

is the board PC 3700? that is the key. if the board is PC 3200 and the memory is PC 3700 it won't make the PC run any faster. All that will happen is that the memory will be downgraded to run at PC 3200 speeds (DDR 400).

Correct me if I'm wrong guys & girls

Well i personally have never come across a dead liteon drive, and i tend to break stuff, only problem is the price, havent seen too many benqs drives, havent seen any with bad reviews tho.... i would advise you NOT to go LG, have a combo drive from them, it will not read any dvds and some cds, dunno if the problem was just for my own still, also my sister had a lg cd drive, would read certain cds, and it just upped and died the other day.. guess which drive she has now, one of my old liteons ...

Apart from that, your other parts seem to be good fits, Asus, everyone knows and trusts them, thats where my next board is coming from, corsair, ask alienware for a review.. lol... Seagate, have and have had a few, none ever failed and my comps are always on, literally.

For your sake, just get a psu with overvoltage, andif possible overload protection, wouldnt want your sys frying now would you.. active pfc would be a plus not necessarily a must...

well you're kinda right, some boards will have posting issues, asus usually post tho, so it should just step it down..

well the mem would would run at 3700 i presume... the one determining factor in the limitatiuons of the speed is the mobo..
I might be wrong tho, but thats what i know it to be..
