This training will be commencing on September 24th-28th 2007.
    CERTIFIED ETHICAL HACKER
    (CEH)

    Why CEH?

The goal of the Ethical Hacker is to help the organization take preemptive measures against malicious attacks by attacking the system himself; all the while staying within legal limits. This philosophy stems from the proven practice of trying to catch a thief, by thinking like a thief.

To ensure that organizations have adequately protected their information assets, they must adopt the approach of 'defense in depth'. In other words, they must penetrate their networks and assess the security posture for vulnerabilities and exposure.

The Ethical Hacker is an individual who is usually employed with the organization and who can be trusted to undertake an attempt to penetrate networks and/or computer systems using the same methods as a Hacker. Hacking is a felony in the United States and most other countries. When it is done by request and under a contract between an Ethical Hacker and an organization, it is legal. The most important point is that an Ethical Hacker has authorization to probe the target.

    Why Get Certified?

The CEH Program certifies individuals in the specific network security discipline of Ethical Hacking from a vendor-neutral perspective. The Certified Ethical Hacker certification will fortify the application knowledge of security officers, auditors, security professionals, site administrators, and anyone who is concerned about the integrity of the network infrastructure.

Benefits of Certification to the Professional

A Certified Ethical Hacker is a skilled professional who understands and knows how to look for the weaknesses and vulnerabilities in target systems and uses the same knowledge and tools as a malicious hacker.

    PREREQUISITES

    • 2 years professional experience in information security
    • Working Knowledge of TCP/IP and Linux/Windows 2000
    • Students must work for a legitimate organization, and be sponsored by this organization.

    THE CEH Examination

To achieve CEH Certification, you must pass the following exam:

    ETHICAL HACKING AND COUNTERMEASURES (321-50)

The cost of the exam is USD 150.00, and is separate from tuition fees for the CEH.

    Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for appearing in the CEH certification examination, you must:
    1. Have attended training for the CEH course at any of the accredited training centers. Should you choose to defer taking the examination after your training, and would like to opt for another location; you can apply for the same at a later date at any ATC of your choice by submitting your certificate of attendance to EC-Council.
    2. Do I have to recertify?
No. If you pass a particular version of the exam, you retain the certification title for life. You can choose to appear for future versions of the exam as you deem fit in order to be certified on the latest version.
    3. How many questions are there in the exam and what is the time duration?
The examination consists of 125 questions. The duration of the test varies according to location and channel. The exam 312-50 offered through Prometric Prime is of three hour duration. The exam EC0-350 offered through Prometric APTC is two and a half hours for English speaking countries.
    4. How much should I score to clear the exam?
    The passing score is 70%.
    5. What kind of questions can I expect in the exam? Do you have any exam pointers?
The examination tests you on security related concepts, hacking techniques and technology. You will be asked to decipher exploit codes, study log files, infer output and apply the knowledge acquired through the course.

4 days for CEH at $2500 excluding exams fees (which is a measly $250 at VUE/Prometric Centers.).

It would be great to see what the fees cover.

My experience in this suggests.....well, UTech22 you seem to be the contact person this. What does the US$2500 include for the four days.

(oh and the exam is number is 312-50 you may want to fix that so that the search engine spiders pick it up )
