Default Matrix: Revolutions - Beware, Spoilers!

We can't keep banging the same thread forever... Here's to the next generation, or rather, the last revolution...

WARNING: The following is an in depth plot synopsis for the third movie. If you want to go into the film UN-spoiled, totally ignorant, and absolutely clueless about what it's about, DO NOT READ ANY FURTHER. You have been Warned.

If however, absolutely NOTHING can spoil the movie for you (like just about everyone else on this site), and you realise that there's no such thing as a spoiler for a movie chopped in half, then we welcome you with open arms. ;D

    So, you can take the

Blue Pill - The story ends, you will wake up believing whatever you want to believe. It's just that by the end of the third movie, you will be even more confused, than you were at the end of the second.

Red Pill - And I'll show you how deep the rabbit hole goes. You won't regret it. ;D

(You can actually click on either Pills - try it ).

    Precursor

Before we delve into unknown territory, let's recap. At the end of the second outing, we know that:
    • The machines are trying to eliminate Zion for what appears to be the 6th time.
    • Neo is a mathematical summation of all the inherent flaws of the system. He is a product of the matrix and the embodiment of a flaw in its design.
    • A new Character, the Architect, expresses himself as the Matrix's original designer, and confesses that everytime a One materialises, elements are created in the Matrix to lead him back to the source, so that he is assimilated, Zion is destroyed, and his system is reloaded.
    • There is a strong probability that it is really the Oracle that is the Mother of the Matrix and not Persephone (as was previously discussed) - More on this later.
    • There are many faulty programs in the system, many of which are NOT under the control of the Architect. That includes the Merovingian and his henchmen, The Keymaker (now deleted), The Oracle & Smith.
    • Neo has become an all powerful force in the system, in the embodiment of ONE individual. His fate is no longer predestinated by the Architect. Now he is in control of everything else that happens.
    • Smith has found a way to duplicate himself. This is in an effort to control the Matrix for himself (more on this later) and to become a force equal to that which is Neo.
    • Through this, Smith has managed to infiltrate the real world, which we are no longer sure is really a real world (more on this later), in order to directly attack Neo where it counts.
    • The Oracle's life is threatened by the Merovingian.
    • Zion is bracing themselves for what will apparently be an epic battle of cataclysmic proportions.
    • More and more people are becoming believers in The One, including counsellor Hamann, Niobe and several captains.
    • Neo was able to demonstrate super human characteristics in the real world. Afterwhich, his consciousness was removed to another realm.

Plot Synopsis - Debunking of Theories

Before we can get into the plot, a few theories need to be corrected. Here we go:
    • There is no Matrix within a Matrix (as was previously debated). There is a Real World (which is REALLY real - it's not a construct) and there is the Matrix.
    • The Machines have not only figured out how to manipulate human flesh, they have also figured out how to manipulate the human mind. Theoretically, the human mind is still nothing more than a program, which exists as a propogation of electrical pulses. This is why Smith could overwrite Bane's personality with his own. This is also why Agents can jump into and out of people. Furthermore, this is also why they can project an entire reality into the human mind. They can change a human's emotions, personality etc. They've figured out all of these things BEFORE implementing the matrix. (See Animatrix: The Next Reneissance Episode II)
    • Because of the above, Neo can stop the sentinels because when he jumped into Smith, from the first movie, not only did he overwrite some of smith's code with his own, but he also took some of Smith's code (or really, protocols from the Agent superclass, the actual agents are like subclasses). This allowed him to be able to stop sentinels. However, because he has never come into face to face contact with sentinels before the end of the second movie, Neo doesn't realise what he can do until then. He merely manipulated the code that was changed in his mind to stop the sentinels. We incorrectly assumed that him stopping the sentinels was merely him manipulating the real world. None of this is true.
    • Each AI instantiation has a predefined protocol of allegiance to the Architect. This protocol can be changed. This is why programs can become Rogue, and targetted for deletion. Smith's protocol was overwritten with one of free will and rebellion. So even though Smith's programming indicated that he needs to return to the source after being destroyed, Neo's actions (destroying Smith) was in effect the worst mistake that he could have ever done. Now Smith has the ability to usurp free will over the Architect. Smith wants to become human, but in order to do that, he has to get outside of the system and smell the real world for himself. This is the main plotline for the third movie.

    • The oracle has become a Rogue program. The Oracle was created as the mother of the matrix, not Persephone. The Architect's reaction of "Please", does not mean "NO she is not the mother". It more closely means "Oracle? Is that what you humans call such a lowly program? Please, don't make me puke".
    • Persephone is a demonstration of the Machines' prowess in their understanding of human emotion. She is like the perfect machine emulation of sexual fantasy and ecstacy. She is there to show the humans that machines understand perfectly how human emotions work. Nothing more. That is why she is the Merovingian's wife. He loves that sort of thing. Both programs are simulations of human emotion. They are both vampires, and more specifically, vampires of emotion.
    • The Oracle has seen many reloads of the system (quite likely 3 of them). She realises that the reloads are perpetual, and will continue on forever so long as the machines are in control. This is why she tells Neo that the only way for the war to end, is for there to be a partnership between the machines and the humans (See the conversation between Neo & the Oracle in the playground). This is how the third movie will quite likely end.

Plot Synopsis - The Real Deal

    Here's the (contrived) plotline:
    • Neo wakes up inside yet, another construct. This is not exactly the Matrix, but it's not the real world either. It's called Mobil avenue. We will meet a few new characters here, most important of which is the Trainman. He is employed by the Merovingian and drives a train on a route called "Loop" which does exactly that - It goes round and round in circles, between the Real World, and The Matrix. This train, is inside Mobil avenue, which is an overlapping zone between the two realms (The Matrix and the Real World). Neo is trapped here, because he summoned source code (which acquired from Smith in the first movie) to stop the sentinels. The Architect has Neo's code (since he visited him). So no matter where Neo goes, so long as he is at broadcast depth and he uses this code, the Architect (or more specifically, the Merovingian) can trap him.
    • Morpheus, Trinity and Seraph will fight their way through the Matrix, into the Merovingian's Night Club called Hell's Club in order to find and rescue Neo.
    • The Oracle will be destroyed by the Merovingian. Another form of the Oracle will be reloaded into the system - but without the usual idiosyncracies and personality elements. She will be a much more "Stripped down" version of the Oracle as it were. (This was actually deliberately scripted in the movies to provide for the death of Gloria Foster in 2001).

    • Smith is on a conquest to overrun the Matrix. He is no longer under the control of the Architect. He now has free will - a power inadvertently given to him by Neo. Smith wants to destroy the Matrix so that he can become free. To do that, he has to control every mind in the Matrix. He is almost successful. He converts hundreds of thousands of minds hooked up to the Matrix into Smith. With this (possibly) million strong army, the entire world, as is known in the system, is populated by only Smith. When Smith assimilates the entire human race into himself, after the matrix is destroyed, coupled with the destruction of Zion, there will be only him on the planet. That is his plan.... in a nutshell. So essentially, Smith has become a virus. A virus that can infect both machine and flesh. Smith is the ULTIMATE program, indeed, the most powerful program in the Matrix. But he is NOT human.
    • While Zion is struggling for survival in an epic battle with the sentinels, Neo and crew realise that the only way to end the war is through matriculation. That means, to hack the machines so that they can become allies, not foes. Smith's rebellion and overrunning of the Matrix provides the perfect opportunity for this. For if Smith has his way, both the machines and the humans will eventually be destroyed because the Matrix hosts the minds of the humans, and is simultaneously the powersource for the machines. If Smith is allowed to destroy the Matrix, Smith will be the only true winner of the war.
    • Neo deals with the devil (the REAL form of the Architect - a monstrous Sentinel lookalike) and strikes a deadly bargain. The Architect knows that he can no longer control Smith. Only Neo can stop Smith. So in exchange for a partnership, indeed, a truce between the Machines and the Humans, Neo will attempt to destroy Smith in order to save the Matrix, and hence, both races.
    • After Neo is rescued from Hell's Club, the party is no longer able to jack into the Matrix, since much of their broadcasting capabilities were destroyed by the Sentinel attack. The only way to get back into the Matrix to deal with Smith is to go straight to the source. Neo has to actually make his way to the Architect - in person. But first, he has to defeat a powerful Sentinel army to get into the core network. Trinity will fly him there, and Neo will clear a path through hordes of Warrior Sentinels, just so that they can get an audience with the Architect.
    • Neo will bargain with the Architect for the salvation of both races. The Architect has no choice but to believe in the one himself. He can choose to eliminate Smith himself (which he will fail to do, since Smith is now Superior to him in intelligence) or loose the Matrix to Smith and risk the total destruction of the entire system. The Architect will be the one to personally jack Neo into the system (since the humans can no longer broadcast into it themselves). So just as the Oracle said, the future will only happen when machines and humans join forces. In this case, it's against a common enemy......... Smith.
    • The final fight will actually take place between Smith and Neo, inside the Matrix, not between Zion and the Sentinels. Much of Zion will be destroyed in the battle. But the final outcome of both worlds will rely on the destruction of Smith.

    Highlights to lookout For

Does anyone here love DragonBall Z? Well, if you are even remotely a fan of the DBZ cartoons, you are going to LOVE the third movie. The final fight between Neo and Smith is going to be in MID AIR.

Smith is no longer fighting as ONE, or as hundreds of individual forces. Smith will cause all of his other copies to remain still and channel all of their power into the Original Smith. He will fight with the power of a THOUSAND human minds.

Neo will fight with the power of the Architect. So in effect, the last battle between Smith and Neo is going to be like a battle between Gods. Can you even imagine WANTON and INDISCRIMINATE destruction? ;D ;D ;D

Like I said, if you like the massive destructive, senseless mid air obliteration (often destroying entire cities) that is portrayed in the DBZ cartoons, you are going to wet your pants in the third movie. Because, that's exactly what's going to happen (or something like that ;D)

Hopefully, they won't go overboard with it, so that it looks cartoonish. That's the only real danger. But then again, go into the movie and suspend all belief for 2 hours and just enjoy it.

Are you a Jet Li fan?

Let me introduce you to the new Kung Fu legend of Hollywood. His name is Collin Chou. He plays the role of the Seraph in the movies. We get to truly sample his powerful and visceral fighting techniques which are VERY similar to those of Jet Li.

Collin Chou is going to be the next sensational Martial Arts action movie star. This is his first Amarican film and it will catapult his career into major movie deals (more on this as details are available) for the rest of his tenure in Hollywood.

If you thought Jet Li's kung fu was wicked, wait till you see this guy move in the third movie. Make sure that you don't blink. The Wachowski brothers may not have been able to secure a deal with Jet Li, but Collin Chou more than makes up for that deficit. Look out for his brawls in the Hell's Club scene (where they attempt to rescue Neo).

After seeing extensive shots of this guy in some training segments and actual scenes from the third flick, I'm convinced that Jet Li is on his way out. He practically steals the show (wherever he is featured) from Morpheus and Trinity. You will see what I mean.

    Do you love epic battles?

If you are even remotely a fan of epic battle scenes like those portrayed in Star Wars, The Gladiator and The Lord Of The Rings, you are going to LOVE the battle scenes in the third movie.

Most of the movie will actually take place in the REAL world. The most fantastic scenes are:

Zionites armoured in Mechwarriors fending off nearly 300,000 invading sentinels. Many will die (the Zionites will incur heavy losses) and there will be many foot soldiers employed in the battles as well. This battle scene will actually take up MUCH of the movie. We will actually also get to see massive floating mechs which are a part of the machine army. No details on these yet. I still haven't seen everything ;D (which many of you are probably thankful for)

Neo's trip to the Architect. Neo and Trinity will go on what appears to be a suicide mission - to seek audience with the Architect. It's potentially suicide because they have to go to the machine mainframe - which is very heavily guarded by a force of several hundred thousand warrior sentinels. Neo will attempt to pave a way through the sentinels by remotely destroying those in his path.

There are a number of other real world battle scenes in the movie, but I think that is best left up to us seeing when we get there ourselves.

    Until then, happy drooling....
