What the hell is wrong with my machine

Ok it like this, about a couple a days ago my machine started to act weird, the icons on the desktop would open and neither would internet explorer. I ran ad-aware,mcaffe virus scan and spyware doctor. Now the icon are back to their normal state but whenever I open IE it goes to the home page then just shuts down with an error message if I try to go anywhere else.

any tips?

i considering that but i was wondering if there is a more deep rooted problem on my machine......I saw some weird stuff in my temp folders. i also deleted all my cookies.

If you are using xp try to system restore to a "good" date

switched to firefox......problem gone for now

Now what, my icons are invalid shortcuts now and the machine just slowed down completely.here is this DAT file in my temp folders that I cant delete....Perflib-perfda.

Download a file called hijackthis. Do a complete system scan and do an online analysis of the log file.
