A stall ?
Rebooting would still be a temporary as it would happen again when everyone tries to gain access, in a case like that u either upgrade firmware/software or junk the darn thing and get a new one!

Re:i tell ya...slow network
What kind of router are you using? How fast is your connection? Bandwidth intensive operations should be done after hours. You need to get Microsoft's Software Update Server. It will download updates for W2K through to 2003. It acts as an intranet-based update server. Users will no longer need to go to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com for critical updates. All you would need to do is configure the machines to get their updates from the local SUS. Seems your end users are hogging the bandwidth. Install Spybot S&D and PestPatrol to get rid off all the pesky adware and spybots that are constantly connecting to the net. Chao

Re:i tell ya...slow network
nice one...actually its a zyxel p643 modem router. the rate is 512u/256d.
i have zapped all browsing on that server with respect to internet and its remotely controlled. i did use spybot to clean it and adware type proggies arent running.
i have since changed the box and am now running 2 nics in there. using 2 diff ip's and keeping the services seprate using the ip's and cards. seems to be running a lot more smoothly. maybe the modem likes that arrangement.... ???

Re:i tell ya...slow network
Did you check the router to see which users were logged onto it?
Is there a wireless router on the system giving outside users access?
