Default 600 youth targeted for IT training

Extracted from the article on our home page, as seen here.

The article points out that some 600 or more of our youth should be benefitting from a program with should increase IT literacy.

    The article points out...

The project, based on the Microsoft curriculum, will see students learning how to use the internet, design web pages and develop computer programmes.
Now this is interesting. I would love to see the training program that this is to follow. I am not being pessimistic, but it would be interesting to see how the plan to implement this. Is it a senario where the programme all the areas or will student get to pick and area more suited for them. How long does each programme last (or the program itself if it is intended to cover all aspects).

I think it's a good idea and plan but more information is definatly needed. For example, will it be MS Office and Frontpage training in the first instance and then move on into a MCSA or E begginers programme? Have these "marginalised youth across the island" ever used a computer before? I would hope that they target primary and secondary youths as well.

Yup. Sometime ago I was invited to be a trainer for a certification standard affiliated with Microsoft called ICCC (IC³). ICCC stands for Internet and Computing Core Certification and is a certification that is promoted by Certiport. (For those who are unaware, Certiport is also the major promoter of the Microsoft Office Specialist certifications).

Not being very fond of the persons who made the offer, I declined but I am beginning to think this is what will be offered.

They may attempt to combine the MOS Curicullum with that of the IC³. What I don't get is that part about developing computer programs, as that is a whole different kettle of fish.
