Japanese mobile content delivery provider Access said Friday it was acquiring PalmSource, the company spun off from handheld device maker Palm to develop the Palm operating system software, for about $324.3 million, or an 83 percent premium.
“Palm’s award-winning user experience and application expertise, combined with Access’ leading software development capabilities, will allow us to continue to deliver great products for our customers,” said Palm CEO Ed Colligan. “Access is currently a software technology partner and we look forward to continuing our strong working relationship to advance the Palm OS platform.”

Mr. Morales said that Access was attracted to PalmSource because of its technologies, resources, and development centers in strategic locations.
