Ghoster? You mean Ghost Installer right?
I prefer and use Inno Setup. (http://www.jrsoftware.org/isinfo.php)
It's free and rivals the other installers out there.
There is a GUI to use with it if you would like. It's called ISTool. http://www.istool.org/default.aspx/

Yes it does. But once you get your hands on Inno Setup, it makes VB's package installer seem like a baby.Originally Posted by erbag
Trust me, the 3rd party installer is much more feature filled and customizable than VB's package installer.

yow respect
They both worked for me IStool and inno setup is good .
but inno is much better.
how can i create a dsn at run time so i would have go and set it up in control panel >> administratative tool s>> adodc data sources.
i want tocreate it at run time or create some time so it dont cause trouble when i move my database or when i install my software on another pc
I used to use Inno Setup years ago as well AA. This post brings back alot of memory.Originally Posted by Arch_Angel
Inno Setup was really good.
Maybe this will help: http://www.vincenzo.net/isxkb/module...article&sid=24Originally Posted by Dj Still
Understand though, that ISTool is a GUI (graphic user interface) to Inno Setup. It simplifies the whole scripting of the installer. With just inno setup, you do a lot of scripting with it. If you're comfortable with that. No problem.
But understand that they are not like 2 different programs. ISTool compliments the Inno Setup program.
From what i understand, you can create a ODBC DSN at setup. ISTool has a wizard thing to help you with it. I'll install it and check it out.
Also, use the Search Archive feature on Inno's website. A lot of persons have asked the question before. http://www.jrsoftware.org/newsgroups.php
Here I did a search for DSN: http://news.jrsoftware.org/cgi-bin/h...p%2F&words=dsn
And you can subscribe to the inno newsgroup too. Lots of information there.

only one problem i have with inno setup when i create the setup and install in the installation directory the vb file or the same form file and project files etc. i taught they would convert to dll or ocx.etc.
All the VB project files are merged into a single EXE files. Your form and project files are your original files. It doesn't touch them.Originally Posted by Dj Still
