Wink pc with restarts without notice

am running windows xp nemesis, i have notice that since yesterday my pc just restart when it feels like. my power supply is great 450watts and also my memory. SO am thinking of reformating my HDD, but I have a concern in that supose it dont stop the problem. My pc is 8years old going on to 9years(dont laugh). Anyway i was just wondering can old age cause this problem?

Could be a faulty driver. Try system restore and set it for three or four days back.

i'm guessing that windoes xp doesn't like your old hardware, try running windows 2000. there are so many things that could be wrong with your hardware, try downloading memtest 1.6 and running that though.

Maybe your microprocessor is overheating (did you overclock it?), check the fan. How long have you been running xp on your machine?

Please do the simple things first ... run a memory testing tool and run a ard drive testing tool.
Those who do not understand UNIX are doomed to reinvent it poorly.
