Exclamation Which is the best PC hardware?

Ever since techTV became so damn commercialised and biased I've long since lost faith in there creditablity to provide us with an unbiased few of what IS the best PC hardware out there.

So I'm throwing it out to the techjam techies.

Please provide links, specs, and/or pics of your candidates.
Also if possible, post suggested retail prices!

Which MOBO is the best MOBO out there, be it Intel socket or AMD?

Which PROCESSOR is the best, be it Intel or AMD?

    Which VIDEOCARD is the best?

    Which SoundCARD is the best?

Which NIC or ethernet card is the best?

Which is the most reliable HDD? SPEED IS A FACTOR!

Which Monitor, be it LCD, gas plasma or CRT, is the best?

Need them for reference because if i get my hand on the cash...i wanna build a damn good PC!

Nah...I want people who know them stuff to tell me....so i can learn because some of the technical jargon and the way the sites hype up certain specs..... can misleaded me because I'm not familiar with it. I expected some disagreement but I hope they keep the responses cordial!

I will make it short and spicy...

MOBO... My brands are... ASUS, SOYO, MSI... I do not like gigabyte again cuz they now have a cheap line of boards which are flooding the market and end users dont know... msi as well with the v class boards which some of us may think is super but they die within months...

    Best Value... ASUS KT880

PRO... The Athlon 64 or say an XP 3000/3200 now has the upperhand with gaming... Pentium for the music/video editing folks... told you that along time ago

    Best Value... A64 2800

VIDEO CARD... I do not want a fuss... but for me ati cards are shorter and does not generate alot of heat... a 9700 pro will still kick but

Best Value... 6600 GT or 9800 pro 128 (if you can get it second hand)

SOUNDCARD... I honestly still like my sound blaster live 5.1... gaming does not really require anything more aw than a 5.1 really

    Best Value... Audigy

NIC... A nic is a nic

    Best Value... realtek 8139

HDD... Maxtor/Seagate drives work fine for me... have no luck with WD... none what so ever...

    BEST VALUE... maxtor 120GB sata

Some peeps who require desk space will love lcd/plasma displays but true gamers who converted from crt to lcd must realise that crt's plays games better. For Lan Party peeps though lcd is a must have as this promotes ease of transporting.

    BEST VALUE... Acer 17" LCD

To each his own... I benched alot of stuff in my life and realised what is worth it and what is not... like high high end vid cards, more than a 1gig of ram, mobo with all the confetti (firewire etc). If you get at bare minimum a 2200+ 2x256 memory and a 5600 ultra or equivalent... you have a pretty decent gaming rig.

Which MOBO is the best MOBO out there, be it Intel socket or AMD?
I would'nt say there is a best mobo, you would normally buy a mobo from a reputable manufactorer such as ABIT, ASUS, GIGABYTE, MSI and lately DFI are good players in the mobo business. However the defining factor for a mobo would be its chipset. Well if you ask me i could only tell you the best chipset for an amd motherboard simply becuase I am an AMD fan. Currently NVIDIA SLI and ULTRA chipsets offers the best performance for the amd motherboard read more .

Which PROCESSOR is the best, be it Intel or AMD?
AMD 64 FX 55 Hands down >>> read more

    Which VIDEOCARD is the best?
have no idea!! i like nvidia thats about it.

    Which SoundCARD is the best?
    same as last answer.

Which NIC or ethernet card is the best?
get a gigabit ethernet. not sure it really matters.

Which is the most reliable HDD? SPEED IS A FACTOR!
if you can afford it iomega makes the best drives, if you can't then seagate
would definately be the better option.

Which MOBO is the best MOBO out there, be it Intel socket or AMD?
    - definately an amd mobo
athlonxp = nforce2/kt880 based can't go wrong with msi or asus
    althlon64 = agp - msi nforce3 based neo2
    = pci-e nforce4 based - msi or dfi

Which PROCESSOR is the best, be it Intel or AMD?
amd athlon64 fx - would wait for the next rext revision which supports sse3, just read about testing of the 4200+ and fx57

    Which VIDEOCARD is the best?
i'm and nvidia person so anything recently released that supports shader 3.0 ie 6600 series and the 6800 series but an ati x800xl is worth a look at

    Which SoundCARD is the best?
as long as it hardware sound not a software codec, for me it's an audigy 2

Which NIC or ethernet card is the best?
gigabit if you have gigabit hub or router and another machine within gigabit on a network but onboard 10/100 is fine

Which is the most reliable HDD? SPEED IS A FACTOR!
keep it new so SATA with 8mb cache, seagate with ncq and a nforce4 based mobo, raptors with tcq for everything else

Which Monitor, be it LCD, gas plasma or CRT, is the best?
crt for gaming, lcd for show or surfing and again bigger is better
