I have always wondered if some o these game companies send their games to the politicians just for the sake of advertizing.......

Regarding the "controversy" of wether games or movies r more influential, Let me answer that with a couple o questions for all of you, Mods u might wanna make a poll for this just for validity,
Which one of these brought more thoughts of modding your car 2F2F or NFSU(1or2)

With all this controversey about the game, it makes me even more interested in the game, just like GTA 3 when it came out .

So why make the game in the first place? Is it really "loads of fun" imitating in realistic fashion, the violent killing of people, cops, other guys with other weapons?

No doubt, any game you play with such intent will affect you. Our minds are like a big sponge. We soak in everything around us. We soak in everything that comes through our eyes and our ears. You can't tell me you're not affected after playing a violent game for hours/days/weeks/months in some way. Nightmares, headaches, bad attitude, maybe even gotten a little more violent last time somedofy got you upset.

Sure sure, it doesn't affect some persons so much that it makes you go out and kill people. But the point is, IT DOES affect you. Heard the phrase "garbage in, garbage out"?

How many of you have re-enacted some part of a fighting game back in high school? I know a lot of my friends pretended to be a character in mortal combat and try re-enact the moves and sound, maybe during lunch time or after school.

How do we know that violent games doesn't affect some of the violence out here? Somebody did a study on it? Somebody investigated the criminals that were caught and asked them if they played any violent shoot-them up games recently? Or maybe our study comes from watching and reading the news and haven't heard anything like that reported?

Just because a study has found that American kids are being influenced by violent games, doesn't mean that it only happen to American kids.

Games do affect us, so lets stop kidding ourselves. Maybe not as extreme as killing someone but it does affect us.

I saw the game on CNN (or one of those foreign news channel) being played. Quiet realistic and violent as usual. Get rewards for shooting cops and such. Oh well, at least we have another "fun" game to play. Can't wait.

i love the legend of Zelda.. but somehow, i dont know how to play any wind instruments.
i like Counterstrike.. but i not goin to Iraq or any other warzone come to think of it.. including West Kingston. and while i will run out like a hero in counterstrike... i will be under my bed when shot start firing in my neck of the woods.. or behind a fat scope of a sniper rifle if i was forewarned.
i loved Mario Bros... but havent done mushrooms...
25 to Life.. now isnt that a winning title?

games are excapism. some people are psychos and really, we need to put blame where it lies, on the individual or the society. a game is essentially a work of art or self expression, and as such, peoples reactions will vary.. but it is the individual reaction that should be censured if necessary. not teh work.

on another note.. why is the idea of killing a cop such a big thing? shouldnt murder just be wrong? why is COPKILLER worse than killer? it reminds me of the furor that came about recently when two guys named Phang and Azan were killed... as opposed to the scores of nameless black people who get mowed under every month. its a double standard plain and simple.

personally shooting someone in a game doesnt help me.. cuz they tend to respawn. and there is no repercussion for your action. its a fantasy pure and simple. game characters dont need to worry about sleep, unprotected family members, stray bullets, reprisal from unexpected places, laundering money (tho i am sure thats coming soon), and in these games you see the cops coming.. in real life.. especially out here... its a little more complex than that. scars, bleeding, court, PRISON, embarassment, ....

long story short.. if games influence you to do dumb shyt... well, you were gonna do it anyways. have fun doing it.

best of luck to 25 to Life... hope it sells a billion copies.
