Default "25 To Life" Slammed by US Politician

Eidos' gangstas-versus-cops shooter attracts the attention of US senator who calls it "simply unacceptable"

Eidos' 25 to Life is the latest violent videogame to boil the bile of a politician, with a US senator claiming that the gang-based shooter "lowers common decency" and should be banned.

Charles Shumer, Democratic senator for the state of New York, began his crusade against 25 to Life in the New York Daily News over the weekend. "It makes Grand Theft Auto look like 'Romper Room'," he told the newspaper, referring to a popular American kids TV show.

This goes back to the age old question as to how much effect does art have on life..... Art imitating Life or Life imitating Art. Does it mean that after playing this game I want to go out and actually play it out in reality for me no but we all know that there are some persons out there that dont think st8t. my $0.02

Come on, if those senator's had any sence they would realise that they are just advertizing the game..."dont by this game because it so violent"....right like thats going to discorage anyone too hard. Remember when GTA first came to america...im taking GTA version 1 and 2 they tried to ban that as well...and all this take about it being a violent game just made everyone want to go out and buy it...i know thats why i bought my first copy becuse of that.

I have to agree with this point, going out saying not to buy this game is just advertising the game, i'm sure it and GTA would not be so famous if it wasnt for the accusations. I believe tho that these games can affect some people who play them...there was a case where someone admitted stealing a car because they got the idea from GTA, the violence in games can be "toned down" to avoid such incidents. Some ppl seriously dont have enough sense to know that stealing a car in real life is not as easy as stealing it in a game

25 to life if released will be another multi-million seller (hint GTA)

I have not played it yet but the killing of cops and crimes that the press is talking about seems really graphic, but then again knowing the press they problably add their lil bit

Thanks for agreein with me but i disagree with u on this ...Is it because of the technology these days they seem to have stopped commenting on TV, I mean there are some pretty violent movies out there...

try this...if someone where to start a street race what would they more than likely blame it one...Need for Speed or too fast too furious?

My point is there are just as violent movies out there as video games...notice the peoplw who are complaining about this thing "oldtimers" (no instult intended)

umm, did i say that some movies aren't also violent...no...., violent movies do contribute to violence, but that does not mean that since movies already contribute to violence it is ok to make violent games. I read something the other day that teenagers are now more interested in playing video games than watching tv, that would mean that video games are more likely to influence teens now than movies.

Well i would think that NFS is gonna influence you more, because in a video game u r acting out a role <adrenaline rush>, with movies you just watching somebody race...not much adrenaline rush in that.

I don't understand these peeps. How comes I don't see Jamaican kids shooting up schools because they want to imitate a movie or game. My point is this, games don't make kids violent, society does... Besides, these games are rated M (Mature) so how the heck kids under the age of 18 are getting their hands on these games? That’s what they should be concerned about and not the banning of the game.
