Arrow arm-chair analyses of corona virus 2019 origins

Below are samples of articles supporting various theories regarding covid-2019:

    http://jamaica-gleaner.com/article/b...-mobile-speeds

What are your understandings of this outbreak? What would be your plan of attack if you had the decision-making power? What would the worse case scenario be for Jamaica? What contingencies should be made?

And can someone explain to me why Jamaica is being marked down by S&P and IMF while the USA goes unaffected? Why is our dollar still sliding? Wall Street are the culprits, yes? (https://www.rt.com/op-ed/484563-wall...crash-covid19/) Oil prices fall, US dollars weaken, but Jamaican dollar gets weaker to the USD? Why?

If I had the decision-making power?

    1. Full lockdown.
    2. Countries allowed travel to/from only when their country is deemed clean.
    3. Import/Export still available.
    4. Farmers would be exempt from curfew.
    5. Review essential services.
    6. Once the country is mostly clean - setup hostels for infected persons with provisions to get them fully recovered.
    7. Inject more resources - money and personnel - into the health system to prevent burnout of the workers.

Within all of this - force persons back into a state of mostly subsistence where we produce enough to support the country. Give additional leeway for markets. And lastly - while capitalism isn't totally bad, I would police the markets. Imagine that the market selling garlic for $350+ per bag while supermarket selling for $175+GCT (about $205). I know people normally double/triple their margins, but that's just not right.

Most of what Khat said and have wearing a mask mandatory. I am more worried about the other countries interacting with us as I fear there will be waves of this thing for awhile.

The problem is the stupid and cruel/wicked people. You know you may be a carrier or have it and you decide to leave the place to go where you either think it's safer or back home? To infect others? I heard that a number of the call center workers from the place that was locked down applied to other call centers in other parishes. Now I understand that you need work - but this is a crisis situation and you need to contain things. The government (I think) is giving out a measly 10k to last for I have no idea how long. But if people buy the things that can stretch - rice, hominy, lentils, etc - then they can last until they find something else or it blows over. The problem is the general mentality of the males and females. I can speak more to the females because their things include hair and nails must still be done...

Would you ban travel from the USA for 2 months? After all of this, would quarantine tourism be a good idea? People travelling to the island are isolated for a week minimum before being allowed to socialize with locals. Or establish quarantine protocols that commandeer various hotels during disasters requiring isolation?

I'd say anyone coming in will plan to spend a week with government before doing their regular business.

I think Tourism is dead for a year and most other travels would have to be kept to a minimum. Places that have this under control do so because the have testing, contact tracing and also invasive tracking. I like the tracking via cell phones and CCTV but it works in countries where the people trust the Government or where they have no choice.
Unlike most other epidemics or pandemics, not all is still known about this virus so while is a general treatment procedure, it does not cover everything. Until there is a vaccine for a very quick test regular travelling around the world should be kept to a minimum.

Does capitalism work like that? There is no thriving income generator in capitalism that is allowed to die without a better replacement with a low bar of entry. Look at coal. Look at diamonds. Look at steam/water-powered engine x gas-powered. Look at Intel vulnerabilities! I predict tourism is going to be market with a risk insurance fee attached, risk tourism is going to be a thing or||and tourism in hard-hit||volatile areas will be cheaper than the areas least affected. There is too much money in people travelling to places to be made for capitalizers to let it be for even 2 months. They even fire people now to generate that income in the race to be employed again when things come back on stream. (You have to pay to be employed.)
