Default Huawei To Use Jamaica as a Launching Pad

Chinese mobile manufacturer Huawei wants a bigger slice of the regional pie.

Huawei, one of the leading network and telecommunications manufacturers, will be using Jamaica as a launching pad into the Caribbean. It will partner with Intcomex to distribute its mobile devices.

“We’re right behind Samsung, and we make no apologies; we’re going after Samsung for the number one Android spot,” said Damion Barnett, the regional sales director for consumer business at Huawei.

Huawei sent their CTO of Latin America to the recently concluded JCS Computer conference to present on - "Plotting the Future of Jamaica to Become the Next 'Smart City'." Mixing that with the Intcomex deal for the region, it is clear that they are pushing hard, and not just for - another android phone.

With all this talk of smart cities and smart homes, if we get a start on it now, Jamaica will be 5G ready by 2020. It's good to see a lot of the use cases for 5G being pushed now. Can't wait to see what the future brings

Doesn't everyone? Jamaicans have 2-3 phones. Everyone want to pose with Samsung or iPhone and have these MASSIVE phablets on them waist (with no protective case). Adding something else to make people have more phones thrown down will definitely be good business for them. Anyways. My Honor 5X will be here weekend. They're not a bad company from what I've seen and rooting the phone is quite painless in comparison to others.
Knowing the solution doesn't mean knowing the method. Yet answering correctly and regurgitation are considered "learning" and "knowledge".
