Default So I am moving away from AMD cpu system :/

Been using this CPU, Ram and motherboard since 2012.

It has done me well and still doing me well (AMD 8320, 990FX Motherboard, DDR3)

My System usage: software development, game development, 75+ chrome tabs open at once, VMs and gaming. intel's i5 can never handle that much load at once. So yeah i5 was never in the picture for me. AMD 8 cores are still great for these purposes.

I like lots of cores and right now Intel is the only option until AMD Zen releases early next year.

So my new system consist of x99 Motherboard, 1x xeon 6c/12t cpu, 16GB DDR4, Fury X and 1000w psu. I just might get a SSD not sure.

How much did it cost? You would be surprised how cost effective this is. people just need to shop smart. I will reveal cost when I post pics

Will post pics soon and performance comparisons

    AFTER BUILD EDIT:

So the big Question... How much did it cost?

Before buying these components I researched a lot and shopped around. The components include, new, refurbished and used. I wont say which is which . For these components I shopped at newegg, ebay and a local shop. I will post neweggs but that doesn't mean I got the component from newegg.
    Prices in USD:
    $115 Motherboard Asus X99-E http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813132835

    $60 Ram GeIL EVO 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4 DDR4 3200 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-079-_-Product

    $75 Intel Xeon 2620-v3 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-480-_-Product

    $22 Corsair LE 120GB SSD http://www.corsair.com/en-ca/force-s...ata-3-6gbs-ssd

    That's it

How much ram were you using with the AMD system and what CPU load were you getting running games with the fury X. having looked at xeon CPU's i think they're a better option than i5's and i7's, so me rate the fact that you went with one.

You should get an ssd, Even if it's just for windows and a few programs.

I have 8GB 1600mhz ram in AMD system.

Some games I get 40% load on cpu, others 60%... sometimes 75%. Games like crysis 3, bf4 are a few of the games that actually use all cores.

That many google tabs open on 8GB of ram? How much ram does google use?

Do you run games at 60fps or higher?

When I have my tabs open ram usage is 80 to 90%.

For gaming, my fps is always locked at 60 (vsync). See screenshots below Crysis 3. Gpu and Cpu usage

I would prove you wrong about the i5 processor not being able to handle all that load at once but I don't use VM. Only thing I could do a comparison with is if you play Blacks Ops 3 at 144 fps with a mixture of high and ultra settings. That game alone keeps my cpu usage at 100% and I still have my firefox running in the background with at least 60 tabs. I close most of them and just bookmark them though because with an SSD and high speed internet makes browsing feel like browsing folders on my computer and it's much easier to navigate as well.

I recently overclocked my almost 5 year old processor and it's performing to me like I just upgraded, so I might have this one till it gives out or I just get bored of it and go for another big upgrade.

I also thought you were going to go Zen but I'm guessing you saw that Kaby Lake 4.2 ghz boost right out of the box and be second guessing eeh .
