@Pezz what is wrong with 12mp? resolution isn't everything although id much rather more manufacturers go the root of downsampling 6k video to 4k to enhance its quality.

I kind of notice this is android users. they like the current setup of the current smartphone market. Totally fine with companies selling cheap handsets with android slapped inside them while apple sells premium. When google tries to go premium they wont buy it cause it confuses their market structure. This is probably why HTC and those other companies fail because the market for android is a fragmented mess. Android is advanced yeah cool since 6.0? Pixel is a bad name for it though Pezz.

we have no issue shelling out on phones but give us something to shell out on. The v20 is a prime example

I have always seen Google's phones as premium. Price don't determine what is premium for me. It is all about the quality. I wont overpay for electronics and gadgets, people who buy Nexus phones share the same mindset. So unless Google is only targeting the iPhone and Samsung Galaxy crowd with this crap.

Nexus 6p to me was the best phone from Google.

HTC failed because it tried to be like Apple. Simple.

For me 12MP isn't good enough. What happens when I want to crop?

Fling a 20Mp sensor in there with everything else remain the same. After all this is now "Premium"

lol thats not how this works fam. Get closer instead of cropping. More MP means more noise. I was very happy they used a 12mp sensor. At most, compact cell phones such as these should have 16mp and no more.

I be cropping yo. I am really tired of 12MP Samsung and everyone else throwing out there. I will never buy a phone with 12MP camera for so much money. No matter how much detail it resolves. While there are 16MP and 20 out there that are equally as good but stores more data due to more resolution.

Depending on whether you shoot in 4:3 or 16:9 aspect ratio, different portions of the sensor are used and you get either 22.8MP or 20.1MP images, respectively, and never the full 24.8MP. Hence the official 23MP designation. Among the benefits of having such a multi-aspect sensor are the similar field of view in both modes (measured diagonally), and higher-res 16:9 shots than what you'd get by cropping from a regular 23MP sensor with a 4:3 aspect ratio.

But we all know Sony fails at software and processing.

How do we go about this. To put it simply, the Xperia XZ's camera output is alright. It excels at resolving high-intricacy detail like foliage (and test charts) in good lighting, but with the sheer resolution of the 23MP images we'd be surprised if it didn't. All that detail, however, is mixed up with noise and noise reduction artifacts, which doesn't look good when pixel peeping.

Stick to fit-to-screen magnification and you'd appreciate the good dynamic range and genuine color reproduction, particularly in natural light.
