Chinese companies already own half the real estate, and are slowly buying up the remainder, in every major Canadian city and no one knows to what end. Maybe this would be apart of their grand strategy.
You expect Blackberry to bounce back through selling re-branded Chinese phones... Really? Do you see them winning any contracts with the American government, or the British goverment by selling them Chinese phones?

Chinese own most real estate in Canada? First I'm hearing that and Canada is my place -_-. Do you guys just make these things up everyday?
The hardware is not what won them contracts. it was the software.
Phone companies who sell cheap phones and have no government contracts is doing way better than BB.

Serious About Housing Costs? Ban Foreign Home Sales for Six Months
READ MORE
Call it the "China Syndrome" -- an unfortunate paralysis afflicting Canadian politicians and stopping them from speaking the truth about what is happening to B.C.'s housing market.
The reality, Josh Gordon wrote last month, is that an enormous amount of Chinese capital is flooding in to buy Vancouver homes. The National Bank of Canada estimates Chinese buyers spent $12.7 billion in Vancouver alone in 2015 -- that's about one-third of all sales!
It's part of the estimated US$1 trillion that left China in the last 18 months seeking safe investments.
And there's much evidence that buyers from China are scooping up vast swaths of the available homes and driving prices sky high and out of reach of ordinary Canadians.
http://www.cbc.ca/news/business/cbre...nese-1.3659847Chinese buyers are now the largest foreign investors in Canadian commercial real estate, having spent $1.3 billion in the first half of this year, according to global real estate firm CBRE Ltd.
The figure is skewed by a single big sale, the purchase of the Bentall Centre in Vancouver by the Anbang Group, the same Chinese company that bought the Waldorf Astoria in New York City in 2014.
The Bentall Centre was reported to have sold for more than $1 billion.
http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articl...quiries-up-134Chinese investors are getting hungrier for real estate in Canada, where foreign demand has fueled record price gains and made million-dollar homes the norm in cities such as Vancouver.
Inquiries for Canadian homes on Juwai.com, a property search engine that lists real estate around the world for Chinese buyers, jumped 134 percent in the first quarter from a year earlier, according to the Shanghai-based company. The figure tracks the total number of queries sent to the agent, developer, or seller of a Canadian property listed on the website.
The increased interest indicates that Chinese investors may be seeking to move money abroad amid instability in the country’s economy and stock market, even as the government clamps down on capital flight. A Juwai survey of real estate agents who work with mainland Chinese buyers found that 55 percent expected international property purchases to increase as people sought a safe haven for cash. Canada, particularly the cities of Vancouver and Toronto, has long been among the top targets for property investors from the Asian country.
I am surprised a "know-it-all" like you would miss this... but I suppose you're too busy keeping up with Nvidia GPU and AMD APU's and such.

I knew about Chinese and Vancouver. As far as I know that is where they spend their money.
But you said Canada so I was confused. Canada is bigger than USA and Vancouver is a tiny spec in Canada.
Lol at that in Bold. I keep up with computing and now cars thanks to Tesla, which is a smatphone with wheels
