You are missing my point. No card can max any resolution at 1080p and over for years at 60fps.
You either deal with low fps or low quality.
Hope I am clearer now.
EDIT: LOL just read your post again... Are you really that slow you missed the whole context of the argument?

1440p is the resolution before 4k and is more affordable than 4k right now, but ofcourse you're gonna need a monitor that can display those resolutions for them to be very effective as well. Dunno why pezz even cares about resolutions and graphics settings anymore though, because I see some console threads he posted in where it seems he is planning on switching to console gaming because too much issues for PC games this generation.
Once a high end card is made for a certain resolution it will last at least two generations, before you have to lower settings in games to get better performance at the recommended or minimum requirements for newer games for that card. At that point thought it's time for a upgrade anyways. People have no problem "upgrading"(in quotes) their Xbox One for a Xbox One S in less than three years, so it's not only the PC world that this is happening in now.
Current Android - OnePlus 7T Pro
PC Specs - Motherboard: Asus PRIME B560-PLUS | Processor: Intel Core i5-11600K (stock) | Memory: 32 gigs Corsair Vengeance DDR4@3200mhz | Video Card: ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 4070 (OC Edition) | Monitor: ASUS TUF Gaming 27" 2K Monitor | Steam ID -> Powpow
According to Steam's hardware survey 1080P and 768P are the most common gaming resolutions for at least 5 years, by a factor of 30 when compared to 1440P or 4K. If that trend holds, and it will, 4K gaming won't be a thing for at least 10 years. So buying a GTX 1080 right now will last for another 5 years, easily. The fact that the most common GPU on Steam is the 970, followed by the 960, the 1080 will last a while for main stream gamers.

I agree, Further more at 1440p and 4K you don't really need to use anti aliasing among other graphics settings that much because of the higher resolution.
True, 2K and 4K is for folks that want a whole lot of eye candy and the money to buy the hardware to run said resolution at 60fps and above, But for hardcore gamers they will probably stick with 1080p for forever. A lot of E-League FPS players still use 4:3 aspect-ratio with 1024×768 resolution, As for me and a lot of other folks, Aren't changing their current GPU's any time soon.
