Good idea AA.
As for netbooks. I have this.
https://www.amazon.com/Asus-Laptop-I.../dp/B00PP9NCY2
Got it as a replacement for a work laptop. Only things on it are Office, antivirus and some portable applications that I run off a 32GB SD card that's in it.
All things are on the SD card that didn't require installation to the fixed drive (like Dropbox......) and it runs nicely. Wakes almost instantly. Boots fairly quickly. And plays back quite a bit of video without much hitching. Doesn't do so good on 8bit/10bit encodes though. Anyways.
For getting things done quickly it's good. Is it powerful? Nope. Definitely not. But it gets the job done. Fast. Light. 12 HR battery. And was on sale for USD$60. If all the person is going to do is watch things online and occasional work then this could do. If they need something for actual work, not this - something else.
I guess AA can close the thread since he got the issue mostly resolved. Would love to know that they got through though. The only way to fix some of those infections would be to re-flash. You can check those videos for some more info.

You can use those as a reference in future if needs be.
Knowing the solution doesn't mean knowing the method. Yet answering correctly and regurgitation are considered "learning" and "knowledge".
