    Default FPS vs Hz

A frame is a single still image, Which is then combined in a rapid slideshow with other still images, Each one slightly different, To achieve the illusion of natural motion. The frame rate is how many of these images is displayed in one second. To produce or render a new frame your CPU and GPU work together to determine the action of the AI, the physics positions and textures of the objects in the scene to produce an image. Then your GPU cuts this image into pixels at the resolution you set and sends this information to your display. Your monitor or display is where refresh rate comes in and is measured in frequency or Hz which is how many times per second your display can redraw the screen. So FPS and Hz are two different measurements for two different things FPS is a measurement for your GPU and Hz is for your display! That's my take on it anyway.

JUST THOUGHT I WOULD POST THIS!

You should do vertical sync and screen-tearing next.

Also, when doing technical writing please refer to your subject terms properly, i.e., FPS and Hz

I read the post and thought about all the FPS I'll waste with my new RX480 because I use a 1080P 60Hz monitor.

Playing Morrowind at 230 FPS will be so worth it.

You wont be wasting. only a hand few of cards can maintain 60fps constantly at 1080p. Hopefully 480 can do that in all games. I doubt it seeing as not even a 980ti can do it in all games.

really? a 980ti can't maintain 60fps on every title? damn i should have bought 2 or maybe a titan x or just wait on the 1080ti don't you think?
