UPDATE: I am seeing some board partners have gotten the card to 1601MHz, the ASUS Strix in particular, dying to see those benches.

This card isn't for GTX 970/290/290x and up owners. Unless you are after new instructions set/technology/more Vram and efficiency.

This card is for the mid to low-end users. 380x and under. This is 60% faster than a 380, put it above the 970 and below a GTX 980/290x/390.

At $199 for 4GB version. Cant complain. Its called progress. They could easily charge $300 for the 4GB version based on its performance. Just like what Nvidia did with the 1080 which replaces the 980.

Toyota, Nissan etc car prices doesn't go up when a new model comes out each year that is better in every way. It is either the same price or a few bucks hire to compensate for inflation. That is progress. I am really not into Nvidia/AMD spoiling the industry. Well it didn't work for AMD so they are back to how it is supposed to be. Things actually get cheaper to make as technology progress. You would think otherwise based on the GPU prices we have been paying the last few years from both AMD and Nvidia. It just hurt AMD more because their audience don't play that crap.

I don't expect Vega to beat a 1080ti/Titan to be honest. It will be faster than a 1080 and cost $400-$500 max though.

My prediction is the 1060 will equal Rx 480 or slightly faster and cost $300. Because Nvidia can charge $300.
odds of that are low. if the core count is as low as rumored, it would have to be clocked pretty dang high.

The range of 480 performance is also ridiculous apparently. If AMD had consistency on this chip they really could have had 1500+ mhz being stock and higher end perf for same price.

not to mention in dx12 it has no chance.

The 1080 is clocked pretty high. So why wouldn't they clock the 1060 high?

we'll see. to pass 4 teraflops would need close to 1700mhz. They'd need 1850Mhz to match gtx 980 teraflops, and pascal is weaker per clock than maxwell. They going to have to fight for that win and thats against stock or barely OC 480. OC a 480 to 1500 or worse 1600 if possible and they stand no chance.

1080 already boost up to 1800mhz though.

Nice the 480 is doing pretty good against the 970 especially in DX12:

Current Android - OnePlus 7T Pro
PC Specs - Motherboard: Asus PRIME B560-PLUS | Processor: Intel Core i5-11600K (stock) | Memory: 32 gigs Corsair Vengeance DDR4@3200mhz | Video Card: ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 4070 (OC Edition) | Monitor: ASUS TUF Gaming 27" 2K Monitor | Steam ID -> Powpow

The card is pulling over 75 watts from the slot, thats a major issue. However watching the below video on science studio revealed the problem - older motherboards need not apply for the RX 480.

Exactly what i said. Its common sense.

AMD should have said it is PCIE 3.0 only though.
