    Default Digicel FTTH in Kingston

Is anyone here testing the service? How has it been so far?

Digicel had demonstrations and prices at Mona Community Centre today.
Triple play with 25Mb data packages were (add GCT to these)
    118 channels $3800
    130 channels $4700
    173 channels $6300
There was also a higher option.

    If wanting higher speed data
50Mb - add $4000 to the packages above
    100Mb - add $6000
Additional cable boxes - add $500

The 50MB and the 100MB FTTH seems like a far better deal to me than Flow current offerings. If only if they can provide that to saint Catherine before i grow old and grey.

Do you know what's the installation cost?

How do you test it? Had someone come over recently talking about digicelplay. Probably would be good idea to check it out.

I have the service as of last Thursday. Is this going to be our Digicel Play / DigicelPlay Community thread ? Mods please advise. I'm ready to get it active. I have issues and praise. I am breathing down their necks (@ the moment) to bring up some world class customer service before they fall into the same crap as the other guys. Have seen it already from their "Tech Service" It's been reported and there is supposed to be a call from a manager later today.... Let's see.

Shoot me any questions about the service and I'll try to advise how mine is working.

    All the best

    Ok, questions follow:
I hear they have more Sportsmax channels than the competition?
What is on that Sportsmax premiere channel?
How fast is their internet really. A lot of ISP's advertise fast speeds but do not deliver.
Does the Multiscreen app work properly or is more marketing foolishness?

I haven't had cable for 2 years (streaming). Just got it (basically free) as part of my 50Mbit internet package. There are 2 SMAX levels but I'm not really familiar with what they offer. EDIT: SMAX Premier is not listed in my program guide (perhaps because I did not subscribe) I'll keep checking

I subscribed to 50 down and 10 up... Had some (2) glitches Saturday (speed drop), complained hard and loud. I'm getting 51.5 - 53.0 down and 9.85-10.25 up to a NYC server as of this morning ) HTML5 speed test.

For comparison, My 20Mbit FLOW line has been solidly capped @13Mbit for over 2 years (same HTML5 speed test). They (FLOW) do however, allow it to go to zero at any time... more likely during an important sports contest. I do not have a 50Mb subscription w/FLOW as they have refused saying they could not provide 50Mb download to my premises. The most honest thing I have ever heard from them. I do have a "50Mb" FLOW service in Portmore. It has always been capped @ 30Mb download speed (since 2010).

    My biggest gripes ATM:

    * Having trouble with my Android 6 and their WIFI radio.

    * They have locked off the firewall settings (hidden)

    * There are no config settings for WIFI.

    * I cannot use my preferred DNS. it's DHCP from Digicel (their DNS) or nothing...So far.

    * Tech service (Digicel) has been most unhelpful

Huawei (maker of the gateway/router) have been much more helpful.

Ultimately I will use the Huawei HG8245h they issue as a gateway only.

I'm complaining to Digicel loudly and often.

The Cable TV is provided via an Alpha Networks (?) Android based IPTV box.

The free DigicelPlay app allows me to start, stop, pause and rewind live TV on my iPad.

It's a bit glitchy so far but fun. Great for news while at my desk.

Again because I don't use TV I'll play with it (multiscreen) and advise.

IP Phone is provided as POTS via RJ11 jack on the gateway/router

I did not subscribe to any phone (minutes) plan but I'm told the call prices will all be less than my Digicel Cel phone.

I'm waiting a month to compare Digicel (phone) with FLOW before I decide to add a plan.
