Default Android Phones Can Be Hacked With a Simple Text

Android phones can get infected by merely receiving a picture via text message, according to research published Monday.

This is likely the biggest smartphone flaw ever discovered. It affects an estimated 950 million phones worldwide -- about 95% of the Androids in use today.

If this sounds familiar, that's because this Android flaw is somewhat like the recent Apple text hack.

The bug affects any phone using Android software made in the last five years, That includes devices running Android's Froyo, Gingerbread, Honeycomb, Ice Cream Sandwich, Jelly Bean, KitKat and Lollipop iterations (Google names its Android versions alphabetically after desserts).

wow this is major, but I seriously wonder if this was a flaw in the first place or deliberate backdoor that was identified and mislabled a flaw.

Good question. This seems too big to not be deliberate.

Man them can even take over your apps and Camera... this definitely sounds like a Google backdoor exposed.

Not really. If your into bug hunting its just another bug just a damn good one...when u look at how this bug was discovered/exploited u dont get that sense..

    Temp work arounds:
1). Set Hangouts to your default SMS app.
    2) Hangouts > Settings > SMS > uncheck Auto retrieve MMS.
