It's priced like that to compete with the 980 ti, but performance still not as solid. Might change though when Win10 releases, so we'll see.

Yeah and with future driver releases. Drivers seem to be adding around 20% for Both Nvidia and AMD nowadays.

budget is $350,000 i have already picked out parts in pcpartpicker and know almost all that there is to know but to get the hardware in the country is headache.just looking a easy route that is not gonna break my budget.

For GPU you'd be looking over $500 currently if you want to go beyond a 290x/390x. Can find 980, Fury, Fury X, 980Ti cards to import.
yea i thought about the skylake and i even saw a review on them from china! overclocking the top tier sku to 5ghz and even 6+ghz! ddr4 is good low voltage higher speeds the z170 mobo's look beastly!,one thing i do notice is that alot of the skylake die is dedicated to intergrated graphics, looks more like a apu to me.x99 is a awesome plateform you get all the bells and whistles(m.2,40 pcie, lots of usb 3.0 and 3.1 sata 6&10gp/s and sata-e,ddr4 and 2 to 4 more cores over z97 top tier sku)the z97 chipset does have most of those tech though.the 5820k i believe is a awesome deal the 5960x too cause the ivy-bridge top tier had only 6 cores for the same price.for gpu yes am willing to spend over $500 on a gpu i looked at amd real hard because i rate them but their cpu's,apu's and gpu's consume alot of power.

That's roughly $3500 USD, yuh deh guh hard with budget though. Are you into STI simulations or CGI animation or something like that? Do you mind sharing your pcpartpicker parts list?

Complete waste of money and by next year the $3500 hardware will be useless. It is a very bad time to spend so much cash on a machine considering the new technologies and new ways of doing things are on the way.

As for your parts list... You serious bruh?

    Phenom 2 x4? [-_-]
I wouldnt advise anyone to build an AMD system unless you are gonna use their APUs.
So swap out the cpu for this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819113360

Yuh hear seh mi deh walk an' pickup money offa road?!

Seriously though, I was going to buy a 280X but the power usage of AMD cards is too ridiculous and I was adhering to a strict 500W budget. Also, the card is an upgrade from a HD4850, so there was a marked improvement. The games I am interested in right now are running at 60FPS, max settings. I am patient gamer, so I wait a while before playing new games, I just finished Dishonored, just started Styx.

Also, I am a web developer, a Phenom II X4 is quite sufficient for Notepad++, Git and WAMP. If I do upgrade it would for a i5 4690 or something < 90 W because, JPS

BTW... I got the Phenom when they were just starting to come out, so I've had it for a while, it was paired with a Asrock 990 Extreme4 MB that died recently. I am pretty knowledgeable about PC part specs (Anand, Tom's, Ars, Guru, HH), so your recommendations was a LOL moment for me.

You do realize peak wattage is hardly ever reached right? So buying stuff based on max power consumption is useless.

While you are doign your web dev stuff your cpu will never be maxed out. Please take not of that. Same for a video card. Different usage for different games.

While playing fifa my system uses 250watts and close to 300w.

While playing crysis is almost 400w.

THis is just with 1 r9 290. I have 2 of them but seeing if I can be comfortable with one seeing as lots of people want to buy one.

With 2 cards now.... playing crysis my system pulls over 600watts. and battlefield a little higher. With fifa using 2 cards my system pulls a little over 400watts.

So see? my two cards are rated 250w each, and my cpu is rated 125w. It never pulls whats it is rated at.

Also while webrowsing I pull 171w.

    So stop worry bout jps.

    EDIT: I game at 5670x1080

According to my watt meter I am running at 287W playing modded Skyrim and 325W rendering a kitchen scene in V-Ray. So, I know a 500W Gold+ PSU is not going to reach 500W, but I remember running my 4850 and using inside my CPU case to keep food heated (no lie). You've had a 4890, you ought to know that card running at max adds 5+ degrees Celcius to a rooms ambient temperature.

When I bought my 960, the only thing the 280, the X version, and the 285 had over the GTX960 was the higher TDP values. Since, I bought my 960, the card's cooling fans have only turned on during a test of GPU rendering with V-Ray

Just remembered, my power supply only has one high amp rail for both PCI-E power leads. The 280X needed 2 8-pin power connections, I only had 1 8-pin and 1 6+2 pin on the same rail, the 960 only needed 1 6-pin connection. It is these little intricacies I use/worry about when picking parts for my PC

Oh Ok I thought you were building something new...

The R9 280x uses a 6pin and 8pin.... Not 2 8pins. Even if it did that would ensure the card have enough power for overclocking.
