The person doing my installation said that the TV could not be linked with the Cable Box Remote, but it can be done by following the instruction sheet with the television codes.

Yea... they lame with respect to that.. they said it can't be programmed. They also said the password and SSID for the wifi modem can't be changed...

    Both can be easily done.

Please tell me that they have a non-wifi version of the new Cable modem for those of us that prefer our own wireless routers.

So your wireless router is assigned a public IP address from their cable modem, great. So just disable wifi or not use it on their cable modem and its business as usual.
