I have 100Gigs of Storage with Google Drive for what $2/month. That's less than $300 JMD/month. Plus I expect that the prices will go down very soon with Amazon's new pricing. I rather to pay for the convenience and not have to worry about administering anything. Make it someone else's headache to do the work.
    I dont administer anything lol.

For me I rather have it where I can get to it incase my internet goes down.

Since I changed my router it is working fine now.

That's why you ensure to have an offline copy on your machine. Whenever you're connected online again everything gets synced up.

That worked well until my dropbox subscription was up and I couldnt sync anymore until i deleted stuff.

    Done with that stuff.

However my home cloud allows for backup of Google Drive. So i will continue using Google drive for my android devices.

I'm moving to the next step. Reason being the APP that allow my phone to sync with my NAS, the devs (DLink)aren't reliable. They updated the app and it constantly crashes and I'm unable to sync from my phone.

So now I am moving to actually building my own.

System will consist of 8 core xeon (2 cores available to cloud server), 8Gb ram (2GB available to cloud/syncing server) and 6TB hdd to start (12TB in the future).

I will be using Owncloud on the front end and backend. Owncloud releases source code so I can edit it myself.

The system I am setting up will be NAS, Cloud syncing and will allow me to share links for files on my NAS to anyone.

I have it running on some older HDD I had laying around. Testing now then I will get new HDD.

Nice, looking forward to seeing how it works out - Will be sticking with my Synology for the foreseeable future. Once I move I'll setup my Terastation rack NAS as well.
