so the card specs were lies. Memory split in 2 and only the 3.5GB is fast, the 0.5GB is slow. Can't do full advertised bandwidth. Damn nvidia

dwl been reading about this from last week. if you access 4GB GDDR5 speeds drop to ddr3.

I see people returning their cards to retailers though. Even after 2 months of owning.

Well I'm glad I didn't bother updating my 760 this year then. Gonna stick to my route of always getting the second lineup in a new GPU chipset release like how I stick to upgrading Windows after the good one... yup.

It is not really a big deal. Just dont use over 3.5GB Vram on 970 and all is well or endure stutter

Well this should be a simple fix for Nvidia seeing that they already know the source of the problem. Just that re-supply fee gonna be ruff on them and someone from the QA proly get warning or booted.

its a big deal. down to the bandwidth specs are wrong you know. 196GB/s while using the typical 3.5GB.

You seem to dont get it. Nvidia knew about this all along. They made the card this way.

Not sure why they spent so much time and R&D to cripple a card. Seems counter-productive to me.

Can it be changed by bios? i doubt it.

Well I was saying they might have to pull back the cards and fix the hardware issue, or they could do a driver update that cause the card to not pass that mark.

EDIT - Oh well, you were right pezz, they did know about this before release based on the video I watched. I am disappointed with Nvidia:

As someone who bought the 970gtx i am slightly miffed, but im no tech guru the card is still solid and im not playing at resolutions where i should be hitting that much ram usage.
