Default Ministry of Science & Tech Website Hacked...

Well....they are at it again. Hackers have defaced the Ministry of Science, Technology, Energy & Mining website (http://mstem.gov.jm)
Other websites were hacked as well - based on information from zone-h.org.

I'm getting a 404 error so it looks like they've taken down the site to work on it.

Obviously those people support Gaza and are against Gully.
Knowing the solution doesn't mean knowing the method. Yet answering correctly and regurgitation are considered "learning" and "knowledge".

I'll bet anything that this hack is related to the "Drupageddon" SQL Injection exploit that was announced about 2 weeks ago. Please see https://www.drupal.org/SA-CORE-2014-005 for more info.

    Description
Drupal 7 includes a database abstraction API to ensure that queries executed against the database are sanitized to prevent SQL injection attacks.

A vulnerability in this API allows an attacker to send specially crafted requests resulting in arbitrary SQL execution. Depending on the content of the requests this can lead to privilege escalation, arbitrary PHP execution, or other attacks.

This vulnerability can be exploited by anonymous users.

You would win that bet because it was a Drupal hole

I wonder if they (Govt.) even have a Cyber security unit capable of tracking down the culprit(s). Any tracks left behind are probably gone anyway.

Doubt they really care to bring it up back any time soon. Those who probably visited the site are just an "articulate minority" anyway. Majority of Jamaicans probably didn't even know they had a site.

True - prior to this thread I had no idea they did. Then again, never had a need to visit any of the various ministry websites.
