Default vpn config and user account for smoothwall

i want to setup vpn through my smoothwall box how do i configure such a setup...?

my current setup is RED-Green. i have a static ip on the red. i will be using windows machine to connect to this box, what i'm not sure about is if i have a vpn user on my windows network as a member of the admin group, do i have to create the user credential as admin on the smoothwall box?

Have you taken a look at the Smoothwall manual?

You can also take a look at Pfsense.

    Pfsense.. is good...

but with smoothwall the vpn... is easier to be done with using iptable

    here use this

Pfsense has the openvpn wizard addon that makes doing this super easy.

Lots of guides to how this cane be done for roadwarrior (mobile) setup and site-to-site perma connections.

pfsense is leaps and bounds ahead of smoothwall... you just need to think about how you want to achieve it and you will get it done on pfsense... I have two networks running on my pfsense... my regular internet on vlan 1 and vpn on vlan 2...

It really depends on the type of solution you are looking for. Smoothwall is designed to do a specific task. Pfsense is designed to do a number of tasks. Some things are easier to do in Smoothwall.

I have implemented used them both.

I don't think you have to create the user credential as admin on the smoothwall box.
