I would assume that you may have a set top box(es) of some sort (applet tv, roku or xbox to be used as a media player), other PCs and/or mobile devices that you would like to access all your data, music, videos etc from a single repository. The reason for several disks for redundancy (which I can understand since I've lost many photos, music etc that were dear to me and felt like I was going to die). My only question is why so much space? But that's a question only you alone could answer... some ehm... porn collection JK

So yeah, if you we are to assume that you truly need 24 - 32GB (or 12 - 16GB in raid) of storage then working backwards to fit the build would look like what we initially recommended:
    - Processor(s) - Xeon processor(s) to handle the load of managing all that data; and board to support it (i'd go with a server m/board with 2 cpu slots)
    - RAM - 16 Gbs or more ram (you can do further research for the recommended ratio of RAM to TB storage) and remember to purchase unbuffered (server) memory
    - Large Server case with that many 2.5" bays
    - A decent PSU
    - Your six to eight 4TB hard drives!
    - Linux or Windows OS - At this point Freenas would need more than Freenas to maintain your files, I mean with this much **** to manage you would need a full OS.
    - and finally link with an electrician to turn down yu light

P.S. 4TB hard drives cost ~$180 a pop, multiplied by six we've blown sir's $1,000 max budget on HDDs only!

So realistically speaking, I mean we could be of better help knowing how much storage you really need and what you'll be using the server to do... No hard feelings btw, just trying to help since I've been here before (multiple times).
No porn collection lol. I dont need a htpc setup. strictly DIY storage NAS like a WD cloud or Drubo that gives me more control and option. I need 10TB storage space but like the option for additional space. I was going to get this link but wanted to use freenas zfs and encryption feature. purpose is mainly to storage and backup possibly stream content from device.

10 TBs in raid is 20TBs in reality... Which would require 4 X 4Tb + 2 X 2TBs (I'd just spend the extra $ and get 6 x 4TBs and done but that's just me); And this is just because there are no 5TB WD Red Drives as yet. IMO is though it's alot of money >$1,000 on HDDs only. Nonetheless, The Drobo seems ok, but for that price I wouldn't call it a value per se as Synology and HP are more known brands (for reliability), and I also don't see a spec sheet for the machine mentioned, which worries me a bit. I must say though the mSATA is definite plus; having a dedicated flash memory to run your OS will significantly improve your machine's performance. But I'm assuming this may be due to insufficient machine specs in the first place, which again worries me. Additional point to note is that the Drobo NAS array in question has max of only 4 bays, which is insufficient for your 6 drives 10TB raid setup.

I went a dug a bit to find you something sufficient for your build in every way. check this refurbished HP Proliant for just about the cost of the aforementioned device. The specs are ridiculous. Also a friend of mine told me today that he may have a hookup on some knock of chinese version of the latest Synology NAS array, I will definitely post the links once I got it.
