Default After 15 Years Of Whipping The Llama’s ***, Winamp Shuts Down

If you had a PC and you listened to MP3s in the late 90s, chances are you managed your playlists with Winamp. Since then, Nullsoft sold Winamp to AOL (the parent company of TechCrunch) for $80 million and online music has changed quite a bit, but there was always something reassuring about the fact that Winamp was still hanging in there. So much for that. Winamp is shutting down. The website and all of Winamp’s web services will shut down on December 20 and the desktop player will no longer be available for download.

    Thanks a lot AOL.

Link doesn't work AA. Some working ones below. I am disappoint. Winamp is excellent - I guess they have their reasons, but AOL will receive a lot of hate for this.

Winamp.com and associated web services will no longer be available past December 20, 2013. Additionally, Winamp Media players will no longer be available for download. Please download the latest version before that date. See release notes for latest improvements to this last release.
Thanks for supporting the Winamp community for over 15 years.
In any case, there are lots of alternatives available, just that Winamp is very iconic. Personally, as an alternative I've used AIMP. Also - other sites will have some/all of the older versions and current version of Winamp for download so I'm good with that. What they should do is release a free version of the PRO since they're going to shut it down.

I use MediaMonkey. After Winamp days I mainly went with using Windows Media Player. But Media Player was getting difficult to use and it wasn't doing want I wanted. So MediaMonkey has been my choice.

I remember on my first computer having a hugh collection of skins, DSP effects and visualizations. The visualization were the ish. Back in the day it was the only media player you could run in the background (up to version 3) while you were running a game (NFS: Porche)

    Wth!

I'm still using Winamp as my music player right now lol. Main reason I use it is for shoutcast radio (1 FM the boss) and I love how I am able to make the player dockable and more compact on the top of my screen.

I hope shoutcast still works with the last version at least casue I doubt I will be switching from winamp for a while.

They shutting down the services as well. So shoutcast might go bye bye.

I remember the days of streaming my own radio station on my 512k connection. That was fun.
