Good Idea I like the concept. No more BS by the varying phone companies.

So Marques reviews the Phone Bloks and I must agree with most of what he says. Why would the top smarthpone manufacturer's want to invest in this?:

Current Android - OnePlus 7T Pro
PC Specs - Motherboard: Asus PRIME B560-PLUS | Processor: Intel Core i5-11600K (stock) | Memory: 32 gigs Corsair Vengeance DDR4@3200mhz | Video Card: ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 4070 (OC Edition) | Monitor: ASUS TUF Gaming 27" 2K Monitor | Steam ID -> Powpow

I like the idea of upgradeable hardware in a mobile phone. However to answer the question, i would keep a cheap phone for more than a year. I dont think i would do that with a smart phone simply because of the vey reason that i like the idea of upgraded hardware on a mobile phone.
