Default So Sony has beaten Nokia's Camera -.-

Sony Xperia Z1 vs Nokia Lumia 1020 shootout surfaces, yields surprising results

Again, this is a solid win for the Xperia Z1 over the Lumia 1020. Sony’s 20.7MP G Sensor camera clearly produces more natural night photos with a more accurate white balance and superior detail.

Of course, we can’t know the conditions under which the test was performed or if the software version of the Nokia Lumia 1020 and the Sony Xperia Z1 was final, so take it all with a pinch of salt. And if you are looking to find more samples, check out the source link below.

That comparison does not seem quite honest. that is the most out of focus and noisy 1020 low light pick I have ever seen. I agree that the sony has more natural white balance but it also has many areas that are very much barker than the lumia but that can be a settings issue. I prefer if the image is able to show up more than my natural eyes can see. they need a darker seen. The lumia also does not have HDR which would have aided in reproducing more natural colors after the low light enhancements thats why the 808 pureview beats the 1020 in color reproduction also.

there is a mega pixel myth but it isnt true for neither the lumia nor the Z1. both have worked hard on not just providing more MP but better images as a result of more MP and actual larger pixels to capture more light.

I look forward to great enhancements on the software side from both manufacturers. I love when preset configurations just work and i dont have to do all the tweeking.
    THANK GOD

Sony always go hard with these type of things. The comparison may not be fair though

The Sony Xperia Z1 is in no way better than the Lumia 1020. It does a better job in auto mode, but the Lumia 1020 rips it apart in manual. Check the article again, they got a pro photographer to come in and do some test, and as expected, the Lumia 1020 is still the undisputed champ

Look at this photo comparison released by Sony. The company claims the Z1 takes better images, but what a lie. http://www.appdisqus.com/2013/09/18/...omparison.html

    Engadget Review - http://www.engadget.com/2013/09/24/s...ria-z1-review/

    Summary:

    PROS

    An excellent all-rounder
    Waterproof and dustproof
    Attractive design, well-built
Powerful camera in a skinny frame

    CONS

Lack of image stabilization hurts video and low-light stills
1080p display has bad viewing angles

    BOTTOM LINE

The Z1 ticks all the main boxes for a cutting-edge Android flagship, with superb 20-megapixel stills being an added bonus. However, if you're looking for very best cameraphone on the market, this isn't it.

Sony Xperia Z1 has just hit the shelves and is priced closely to the Lumia 1020. The latest Japanese flagship also relies on a newly developed camera sensor and technology. It comes with a 20.7MP Exmor RS Sony sensor with a Superior Auto mode that produces 8MP shots from the raw 20.7MP images - Sony's answer to Nokia's PureView photos. Unfortunately, the Z1 can't keep both the full resolution shot and the downsized shot like the Lumia 1020. It also lacks optical image stabilization and a xenon flash. Not to mention that even the downsampled shots are nothing to write home about and the full resolution 20MP photos are lackluster. Despite having a 1080p display, the Xperia Z1 TFT unit is nowhere near the quality of the Lumia 1020's AMOLED screen. In fact, Sony's only advantages over the Lumia 1020 are its water-protection shell and probably, the Android OS (which is not little by all means).
