I'm a developer and I don't care about it eitherway. In fact its probably a trap.

There was a time when Microsoft could do as it pleased. Everyone would fall in line because they needed Windows.

Times have changed. Microsoft is no longer as powerful/influential. From time to time they forget that times have changed.

They could have done this 10 years ago and gotten away with it.

You know a trap, like "hey come and use this thing for free so we can sell you on our tools and API until you eventually will have to spend money with us because you can't get out of the hole".
