    Default International Privacy mayhem?

I want to write a report on the clunkiness of e-mail and how to authenticate and encrypt e-mail communications. This is Sunday, August 4, 2013 news: http://jamaica-gleaner.com/gleaner/2...ead/lead1.html

Is there a law in our constitution that declares it wrong to protect ourselves? I am sure I read it somewhere. I think they even used it against Paul Bogle, Sam Sharpe, George William Gordon, Cudjoe and a whole lot of other Jamaicans.

I only need to authenticate to LIME SMTP when I am sending signed or encrypted mail. Also, LIME SMTP is blacklisted in at least 4 major blacklisting databases.

This is eventually gonna blow up on so many levels. This is a worldwide issue, and there's no way that the world will stand by and allow its privacy be nullified by this. No-one wants to return to the era of socialism promoted by Russia and China so many years ago (and even today to a certain extent).

Such a report would be nice, but I don't think emails make up the bulk of communications anymore. Nowadays I think people are more into instant messaging, so I guess it is a matter of knowing which IM clients/protocols are more secure.

There is no such thing as privacy anymore America can spy on anyone one in the world that they please and don't think for a minute these online security protection or vpn can stop them or encryption. The phone companies are paid by the government to release records. UK and Germany is working for the US. There are trigger words that on google, yahoo and all the social media that the government look for when you search. And like i have been telling people for years now you don't have to be commiting a crime or doing anything wrong to be considered a terrorist. The spying won't stop it will only get worst, now they allow you to spy and snitch on yourself with all the smart devices and social network that you use in your home. America is the super power. All that is happening now they are doing it for a reason the the spying the banning of the guns they are preparing for something. It is gonna get worst and don't think for a minute that it won't affect Jamaica and Lime or digicel can't do crap about it. The prime minister worst can't do crap we are death slaves to IMF we don't have any say because we are not independent. What you are planning to do is good and i support it, but i will will tell i say this as i have said for many years the US government is 50 years ahead in technology than they give to us today. I wrote on here last year that technolgy is going to come back and bite us in the butt. But this is only the beginning stay tuned it gets a lot worst lol

Snowden enforces my point but it's even worst than he puts it

You take the blue pill – the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill – you stay in Wonderland, and I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes. Remember, all I'm offering is the truth – nothing more.

Here is an easy article on how to put together an email server with encryption.

"...put together a mail system that provides all the required features, as well as the three bonuses (encryption, easy programmatic access, and phone whitelisting). I’m describing it as a “Hacker’s Replacement for GMail” as opposed to just a “Replacement for GMail” because it involves a good deal of familiarity with Unix (or at least, to set up and debug the whole system it did. Perhaps following along is easier)."

    Overall Design

    • Debian GNU/Linux as mail server operating system (both Linux and Mac as clients, though Windows should be doable)
    • Exim4 as the mail server
    • Courier-IMAP for mobile usage
    • Spamassassin (with Pyzor) for spam
    • notmuch to manage the email database+tags+search
    • afew for managing notmuch tagging/email moving
    • Emacs client for notmuch on all computers
    • K9-Mail on android (my phone)

Privacy does exist. Put some thought into it. Is it really that there is no privacy? Or are you unwilling to gain privacy? All your information got out there how, and in what form is it transmitted and stored? What did the Koch brothers do this week? Where is Mr. Alan Greenspan going tomorrow? What is Bernie Madoff interested in now? Privacy exist if you choose to put up your own curtains and not build glass houses. Are you looking forward to Moto X? Why would you want a device that is always listening, always recording?

We are as private as our behaviours make us. I am sure I could point fingers at some members here whose digital footprints are so low, you have to directly look for them to know they exist (the owner of this site is one of them).

    • Access to the same email on multiple machines (but, these can all be machines I control).
    • Access to important email on my phone (Android). Sophisticated access not important - just a high-tech pager.
    • Ability to organize messages by threads.
    • Ability to categorize messages by tags (folders are not sufficient).
    • Good search functionality.

There are sources that point out e-mail not really changing in the 40 years it has been in existence. That e-mail is not being used as it was designed to be used. That it is time to use other means of communicating other than e-mail. I agree. The services here do not supply ways of securing data. As a matter of fact, you have to give out more information than you should. Want to change a dollar? You need a National ID...

Ever heard about Bitmessage? It's a nice concept. Your identity should not be so hardcoded to you that it is able to take on a life of it's own (Southpark, Season 14,Episode 4). We should be able to discard our identity if it poses a danger to us, especially if it gets stolen. Why do we have to turn over so much information when other nations don't have to for the same thing?

They are trying really hard to have us give up all of our personal information. From Google to Facebook to almost anything that deals with Cloud storage to cell phones. We give out a lot of our personal info all in the name new tech. They provide us with some solutions to problems but at what cost? I always try to stay a generation behind and do not upgrade stuff unless it is absolutely needed. All we can all try to do is be more vigilant.

If you have to exchange foreign currency, your identification is a requirement. If you want to remit money, it's the same.

Useful information, like energy, takes many forms. Confused man should ask questions!

Lol privacy does exist until the government decides they want the information seems you did not hear what snowden said in the release documents. When America speaks no one dares to stand up not even the countries to whom they where spying on won't do anything about it but, all they told snowden was thanks. Even Putin told snowden the only way he could get asylum in Russia was if he didn't release anymore documents about America. So if countries are afraid to stand up what guarantee can a company offer when the US government applies pressure that they won't release data to them. I Don't trust known of these so called privacy sites, VPN or browsers. A lot of people have made promises over the years that they did not fulfill including president Obama. Verizon along with other mobile operators not only in US but also in the UK or paid by the government to provide records. Money talks people will sell out for a nickle. As a Matter of fact i don't even trust snowden something is not right but i just can't put my finger on it yet. But it will soon come to light. But yes privacy do exist until the government needs your info.
