In June, the team conducted the experiment using an $80 million private yacht sailing in international waters off the southern coast of Italy. A student "attacker" commanded the spoofing device and sent faint civil GPS signals toward the ship's GPS antennas. The spoofing signals were increased to the point that they were stronger than the ship's normal satellite signals. This way, the "attacker" could take control of the ship's navigation system remotely.

Seriously ? I won't be relying on GPS so much anymore. I'll be sure to get a map and instructions from now on when I drive somewhere I've never been before...
