Wishing to Learn

Looking for a good resource to learn programming, I have a half-decent background in C, C++, Javascript and HTML(Asc. MIS) but have not been in the field since 2006. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated as I am trying to get back on track with what I really wanted to do which is develop applications, I dont mind starting from scratch and learning it all over just hoping someone can point me in the right direction.
