You should check out the price of there other phones on Amazon, they have unlocked phones at lesser prices than Samsung but the specs are on par with Samsung

I am getting the impression that Chinese manufacturer are stepping up the quality of their phone to get a better foot-hold in the Western markets e.g. look at the Oppo Find 5 phone.

Most of it is shadow manufacturing, you pay them to manufacture your product, they do that by day then they make more by night for their copies so some of the parts in these cheap phones are the same as the high end phones now, they cant get the high end processors too much money so they tend to use the chinese ones. so wifi, speakers, screen, bluetooth, gps. The same dam thing. pluss google started the race to the bottom with the nexus line so if they are going to compete they have to come good.
