Default Islandwide broadband network to be rolled out by Gov

The Jamaican Government is in the process of rolling out a broadband network which will be done island-wide to provide universal access to digital technology for citizens.

This initiative will be provided through the Universal Service Fund and seeks to achieve the vision of Jamaica being "a knowledge-based and educated society, which is globally competitive and productive", Prime Minister of Jamaica Portia Simpson-Miller said.

The Prime Minister who was addressing the March 19, official ceremony for Digicel's regional headquarters in downtown Kingston stated that the rollout of an island-wide broadband network is set to give rise to the strategic placement of Jamaica as the key ICT hub within the region.”

Exactly. All they do is talk about this or something similar every five years. And rural Jamaica is never considered when they make their 'islandwide' claims.

Yep, but in there heads, internet generate money, which is what they want. Fixing roads cost them money (tho really no their money) which the don't want to spend, as the can't put a toll everywhere to recover cost.
