As a start up their job is to sell their idea so they can hopefully make millions. that idea however is a gimmick that wont be the future, we are at the point of swipe for phones and tablets coupled with vibrate when you type for those who don't like swipe. For cars voice commands is still the future, also his answer to springing a leak was evasive. Gorilla glass for example made great claims and even they as a company had to come with gorilla glass 2 and now 3 because as strong as they are humans always find a way to break stuff. which means when the phone drop and the liquid starts to leak then that's it for the phone.

this is actually the future http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mLMWXBv5rY4 and unfortunately that keyboard option wont work with this.

The future according to who ? The raised keyboard in my opinion is a feasible hybrid to dedicated touchscreen.Swiping is a fad that may catch on but then again i am old school. as the creator of the thread .

The future according to Samsung the industry leader in mobile devices( don't believe me Google top manufacturer smartphone sales worldwide). are your saying Samsung's idea is lame? and curved HD screens powered by Android that cannot break wont be the future? Old school is fine but lets wait and see what the future holds.

If the technology leaders have a vision with a world without physical qwerty keyboard you better hold on to your existing device as 3% of the old school loyalists will not stop the inevitable.

Yet again another techie who believes his view represents the general populous, myself along with several other persons do not like typing or "swiping" on a touch screen we prefer physical keyboards. The technology will work because it fills a need.

Nobody said the screen was "lame" the question was asked who determines what is the future from what is not. Because something is cool does not make it relevant or fill a need. Lots of "cool" technology has come and gone because they are not practical and does not fit anywhere is the customer's lifestyle or fill a need (I guess the opposite can be argued as well; remember the pet rock). So whether you think old school loyalists as you call us are "out to stop" advancement its quite the contrary, I simply want a phone that:

    1. I can use
    2. I actually like using
    3. Fits my lifestyle

I simply hate typing on a touch screen, and that is primarily why I do not own a touch screen phone. The point I am trying to make is you do not have to debase one product to make the other seem superior, in marketing we call that selective distortion.

In marketing "we call" who is we? I guess your marketing Qual and knowledge is superior to mine.

I will not debate this further, I will let time take care of this concept (like it is taking care of blackberry)

Im with you on that bro. I hate typing on touch screens as its just not comfortable and you make way more mistakes than you would on a physical keyboard. My phone (Nokia E7) has a touch screen but i bought it specifically for the qwerty keyboard which i love, it just makes typing that much easier
