Nationwide News ran this story this evening. Breaking news ...

Ok ... so according to Nationwide News Network, Philpott Martin has been held in connection with this incident. The story according to Nationwide is that employees of Digicel are implicated. They said that the hackers are threatening to release details of recorded phone calls and text messages if the company does not pay them US$1 million by January 31, 2013. Allegedly, the hackers threatened to expose to the public that Digicel employees were allegedly illegally recording customers phone calls and spying on text messages, if the ransom was not paid.

    Aye caramba.

Yeah it's been all over Nationwide since evening. Apparently, they're demanding 1 million USD. It seems to be an inside job - they've suspended one of their Software Engineers. Strangely, there's NOTHING on the interwebz about it...nothing on Gleaner or Observer websites.

It's not a hack. Sensitive information was leaked from an employee.

I'm sure more information will become available in the next few hours.

Well since Digicel most likely will not pay we will have a lot to sus sus come Febuary 1st
Personaly I doubt it's phone call recordings since that would surprise no one. It's more likely business info, maybe stuff linked to those mysterious searches that the Tax office made a few months back.
