Default win 7 installation disk vs lappy vs me

aight doing favour for some one, basically up dating their old laptop.

    its a compaq ( yuck) Dv5000

it has on winXP sp3 already , and i intend to put on win 7 home 32bit... but the darn dvd drive only seeing the text file on the win7 dvd

it is not picking up any thing else on the dvd not in windows environment or during boot up

the dvd is good, used it exactly one week ago....

i'm wondering if its the stoopid lappy or just the dvd drive ?

So you are are thinking no real problem right........... 'silly BL@ze just install it from a USB device how no0b are u man'

ha jokes on u ( & me too)

damm bios nuh even have the option to boot from usb/other

i not even want to risk updating the bios

    edit:
